2006-02-20 [Skydancer]: Welcome :)  There is one more, but that is ray tracing and much too complicated for me. :) in those you actually describe the scene and the lighting, surfaces and shapes and then the program renders them into solid forms. ACK... Bryce, poser and other modeling programs are like that.

2006-02-20 [Skydancer]: yep yep.. typically I have a few dozen layers in my photo manipulations. My more traditional style paintings done digitially often have a lot of layers in order to get the same effects as glazing and transparent paints would give with a brush and oils.

2006-02-21 [Lothuriel]: It can be anything done with a computer, as long as it isn't a manipulated photo. What I mean by that is like acutally taking a photo of someone and sticking a tail on them or something...

2006-02-21 [Skydancer]: Gimp can do nearly, if not everything PS can do, and it is free, it just takes quite a bit of time to learn the interface. Also, if you are in school, you might very well be able to get an academic version at a good discount.
